Warrnambool Neighbourhood & Community Centre Inc.
CAV Registration Number A0016886R ABN 45 436 067 069
Warrnambool Neighbourhood Community Centre is a not-for-profit community-based organisation located in East Warrnambool.  We provide social, educational, recreational and support activities aimed towards bringing people together to connect, learn and contribute to their local community.
We are funded through the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and are members of Neighbourhood Houses Victoria. We are managed by a volunteer Board and paid staff.  But we could not do the work we do without the support of local community volunteers to help develop and deliver our programs and the generosity of our community partners and sponsors.

Social Connectedness and Inclusion
Strong social connections and networks have a profound impact on health and wellbeing and prevent the negative impacts of social isolation.  Our centre provides a friendly, welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all members of our community. We provide a place for people to develop and maintain relationships, have meaningful interactions, find emotional support and a sense of belonging.
Education and Lifelong Learning
Our centre aims to provide a community-based learning space that is empowering, supportive and caring.  We provide an opportunity for formal, informal, and incidental pathways to explore, learn and grow – whether that be guidance for new parents, learning new skills for personal development or keeping up with technology and employability skills development.   Our classes, workshops and activities change and develop to respond to needs identified in our community.
Recreation
We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to engage through a wide range of low cost social and recreational activities.  Having access to affordable, fun, relaxing leisure time activities is important for creating social connections and improves physical and mental health.  Our current program of activities includes, children’s community garden, community lunches, book exchange, drop-in coffee spot, health and wellbeing activities, arts and crafts and children’s play groups.
Community Support and Advocacy
Our community centre is often a first place for people to find assistance across a range of areas.  We can provide support with internet access, filling out forms and applications, on-line applications for government rebates, referral support to agencies such as Foodshare, No interest loan scheme, etc.  Our centre provides a safe and friendly place providing confidential assistance and support.
Community Ownership and Community Participation
We are guided by the Neighbourhood Houses sector principals of community ownership and community participation.

“To set, manage and control the direction, resources, decision making and processes of the Neighbourhood House so that local volunteer members have a sense of ownership and intrinsic belonging.”
“To put into practice a process that respects, values, and enhances people’s ability to have control of their lives. This process encourages people to meet their needs and aspirations in a self-aware and informed way that takes advantage of their skills, experience, and potential.”
